Update!

It is that time again for an update on Dinosaur Daze.  Good news, the projector came yesterday.  The bad news is that it is missing a plug.  It has three European input devices and needs a cord made up of a device with three European output devices.  I will be informed by the end of the week.

Stay tuned.

Getting Recognition.

As you know, I love monster movies because they are out of the ordinary and have special effects that steal the picture.  I am also a member of the Kaijuphile Message Board (where I post obscure monster movies) and the Classic Horror Film Board (where I post movies that never got made).  Recently, Enshohama, a member of the Kaijuphile Message Board and a blogger  mentioned me in one of  his posts.

I also got known for making the documentary, Hail to the King - A King Named Kong in 2014.  I wanted to find a away to promote it.  One day I was minding my own business on Facebook and I stumbled upon a podcast about the Hong Kong King Kong clone, Mighty Peking Man on the Ape Suit Cinema page.  The podcast was called Bad Asses, Boobs and Body Count and they announced that they are going to do an episode about the 1976 remake of King Kong as their 200th episode.

They said that they are looking for an e-mail or voicemail about their podcast.  I gave in my e-mail and as a result.  It was on the podcast! It appears at the 12:33 mark.   Also if you just want to listen to that sample, it is available.

If I were you, check out their website and listen to those podcasts.  Give them an e-mail or voicemail and tell them that Matthew B. Lamont sent you here.

This year, the Dino De Laurentiis remake of King Kong is 40.  So if it is your favorite movie, give it a watch.

Shout out goes to the folks behind the podcast, Badasses, Boobs and Body Counts.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is a video I got involved in nine years ago.  I appear at the 6:58 mark.  I did most of these Ken Burns effects and editing.  This was an exercise in my timing and animation.  My brother did the narration.  This documentary, which was my mother's idea, was an assignment for a Video Documentary class at Bunker Hill Community College.  So here is A Thanksgiving Celebration from 2007.

Enjoy the show.

By the way, here are my top five holidays:
5. Valentine's Day.
4. Fourth of July.
3. Halloween.
2. Thanksgiving.
1. Christmas.

Ben and Me.

Here are pictures of me with Ben Franklin.  OK, he is an actor in his nineties named Dick.
He said, "You can call me Ben, you can call me Dick but don't call me Benedict."
These pictures were taken on my birthday back in September.

Enjoy.

I have a new music video.  It is from 2010 and it is called "Soul Dracula" by Hot Blood from 1977.

I hop you enjoy it and Happy Halloween!

UDATE! Will this short movie be back on production?

What time is it?  It's update time!
Yesterday, I got word from Adam Savje and he said that brought a projector from one of those e-bay links and he said he will test when it comes out.
There will be a good chance that this film will be back in production!
Keep your shirts on cowboys, Dinosaur Daze will be completed!

UPDATE!

I spoke to Adam Savje and he said the 16mm motion analysis projector was not working.  I told him about Jim Bales and his 16mm motion analysis projector at M.I.T.  I will find give Jim an e-mail and talk to him on Monday.  Hopefully this project (i.e. Dinosaur Daze) will be back on the ground.

In two days...

In two day I will come back to work on Dinosaur Daze.  I hope the projector is fixed.

Friday, October 7, 2016

Here I am! Rocking like a hurricane.

Yes with Hurricane Matthew going around recently, people have been comparing me to it.  This picture is taken from a NASA satellite.  It looks spooky in time for the season.

I for one should enjoy it while it lasts.  The news has been calling it Monster Matthew.  I like that name. Because I like monster movies.  It is an interesting but weird experience.

It is like your name is Doug and people make fun of your name by associating it with the cartoon from the 90's.

Here is another update and I got another word from Adam saying that I will meet him on Friday October 14th. Let's see how Dinosaur Daze will be doing.  Hopefully it will be rising out of the ashes and back into production.

New Music Video - "Snoopy's Big Debut" by Robert Towers

Here is a new music video.  It is "Snoopy's Big Debut." This one is a follow-up to "Cracker Box Palace" and takes place before "Funky Disco Princess" (which got 940 views). You can say that my "Wander Over Yonder" music video trilogy is complete.
When The Peanuts Movie was causing hype last year, I thought will Snoopy speak. If so What would he sound like? Who would voice him, so I guessed Jack McBrayer would be good voice for Snoopy. Wander is as happy, cheerful and energetic as Snoopy. The song was from the 1984 album, "Flashbeagle" which was featured in the special, It's Your 20th Television Anniversary Charlie Brown. Believe it or not, this was my first exposure to Peanuts and this is where my love for Charles Schultz's work all started.
Enjoy.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Bubbles of hte Opera."

I am back with as I take a look and analyze an episode where Bubbles has a bad day.  Here there be pop-culture references.

I hope you enjoy it.

Shout-out goes to 42nd Street Pete of 42nd Street Forever and Josh Hadely host of the podcasts Radiodrome and Lost in the Static for showing me that you need effort and devotion to be a success when you want to make a movie.

Update! (Or the Matthew B. Lamont Panel)

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, here he is, the man himself, Matthew B. Lamont

(crowd cheers and Matthew comes in to take a seat)

Matthew: Welcome one and all, I am Matthew B. Lamont.  You are here for some exciting stuff. Right?

(crowd gets excited)

Well then, let us start.  First I am going to talk about that there will be more Powerpuff Girls 2016 Reboot Vlogs.  There will one coming soon where I talk about the Powerpuff Girls - Teen Titans Go cross over and how left a reaction out of me!  Currently the camera has a battery with time limit.  So a battery with a time limit, and this can make something to lower your time.  So sorry about that, but bear in mind, I will vlog about the mini-sodes too.

(crowd cheers)

I will reach my final analysis on that show.  Next, I am going to talk about more music videos.

(crowd cheers)

As you know, I have made George Harrison's Crackerbox Palace.   I have made a music video one time that was never released it is called Rock n' Roll Hootchie Koo.  It features clips from The Nostalgia Critic and Bum Reviews.  However it got rejected.  Going back to Crackerbox Palace is a prequel to Funky Disco Princess.  I am planning to to make a follow-up to Crackerbox Palace.  There will be commentary on that music video soon.  I am planning to make another music video soon that will follow-up Crackerbox Palace.  That is for me to know and you to find out.

Also, I have just completed a safety film from for Tech Central.  I started working on it since January and I completed it at the end of July.  This one is called Tech Central and the Color Code Alert System.   This was inspired by true events that happened to me over the past two years that did not turn out well and was very unpleasant.

(crowd feels pity)

Out of resentment towards that, I decided to a color code alert system like the one the Government uses.

I saw an episode of The Muppets where Kermit says that he has his Color Code Alert System for Miss Piggy!  This is what Kermit said:

"Green, she is calm.  Yellow, she is in tears.  Orange, I am in tears.  But with code red, if she locks eyes with you, it is already too late."

Inspired by that, I made one up, so thanks Muppets.

(crowd laughs)

Green is everything is OK.  Yellow is hitch, so there a vast majority of certain items are not available.  Orange is trouble, which means the student is clowning around with the employee.  That's a no-no.  Red is danger, which means the student is emotionally threatening.  Finally Purple is threat, which is the student is physically threatening.

It will premiere sometime this fall.  Yes, you with the dinosaur suit.

Dino-fan:  When will Dinosaur Daze come out?

(crowd goes cheering wildly and excited over it by shouting the title)

Matt:  OK, OK.  I know how you feel.  I am trying to get that movie finished.  The live-action is done, the animation is done, but the combining of the stop-motion dinosaurs with the live-action isn't.  There is a special projector for it.  If you remember my previous posts, there are some technical difficulties.  Yesterday, I went to M.I.T. (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) because I heard via word of mouth that there was a projector for motion analysis there.  Some person named Jim Bales knows about and I am planning to talk to him about using it for a this project.  Elsewhere, Adam Savje told me about that projector is having trouble being fixed so he asked me to give him some online links on where he can get that kind of projector.  Hopefully this project will be completed.  It will be done sometime this fall for a Halloween release or a Christmas release.  I hope it gets done by Halloween.

(crowd applauds)

Currently, I am working on another Break-In Recording.  This one is called Pokémon Oh No!  It is based on the popularity of the game Pokémon Go.

(crowd laughs)

Thank you for coming and have a nice day.  There will be more updates soon and surprises.

(crowd applauds and leaves)

This is a pretty good episode, because it reminds me of the original show!

This (well written) episode is promoting a coding program called Scratch.

New Music Video - "Crackerbox Palace" by George Harrison

Here is a new music video. It is called "Crackerbox Palace" by George Harrison. When I heard this song, I was thinking, rather than doing a sequel to "Funky Disco Princess", why not a prequel. This one works.

Enjoy.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Blue Ribbon Blues."

Something fishy is going on here.  Better yet, there is something fishy about this episode.  Is there something wrong with it?!  Find out as I vlog about this.

UPDATE!

Here is an update!
First of all I am going to talk about the progress report on the film Dinosaur Daze.  Is it doomed for extinction?  I hope not!  Here is the scoop.  When the Motion Analysis Projector malfunctioned, the projector was going to be fixed in July.  I thought all hope was lost until I found an article on line from a PDF file of the old magazine, Super-8 Filmmaker where it was talking about rotoscoping with Super-8.  The article was written by Yvonne Anderson and she wrote that recommended the JK Optical Printer.  Just remove the camera and use the projector.  Then I thought, if the JK Optical Printer can do rotoscope like the Motion Analysis Projector, then it can do Dynamation by adding in a Projector Lens.  I told Adam Savje about it and wrote to he asked me about the article and I gave it to him via email.
He tried it and it did not work well, he recommended use a different wider-angle lens.  I agreed and we will try this thing for two weeks.  Let us hope for the best or else this project will be extinct just like other dinosaur movies that never got made like Jim Danforth's Timegate, David Allen's The Primevals, or War Eagles from the team who did the original King Kong.

So here is a Timegate, the movie that never was.

There will be more Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlogs, but the trouble is, the camera malfunctioned because the memory disk got full.

That is all.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Aracnoromance".

How bad is this episode?

Also more bizarre obscure movie references. Shout out goes to Tim Paxton, creator of "Monster! Magazine". He not only like bizzare movies that can make films KING KONG look mainstream, like me, but he also has a thing for bizarre Bollywood (Indian Cinema).
Here is a link just click here.
Check out his facebook page.

Feel free to subscribe to his magazine "Monster!"  Subscribe to his Facebook page and tell him that Matthew sent you here.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "The Wrinklegruff Gals".

I am back with another vlog.  This one is on the episode, "The Wrinklegruff Gals."

In this one, there are two animation flaws, a monstrous caricature of Donald Trump, and my impersonation of the Wrinklegruff Gals sounds a lot like The King of Town from Homestar Runner!

Enjoy.

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

On that day in 2014.

There was a great event that happened.  While Hollywood made their own version of Godzilla, I made a documentary called Hail to the King - A King named Kong.

After watching the original King Kong at the Brattle Theater, on July 5th 2013 and watching Saberspark's documentary, The Ballad of the Brony, about full-grown men who love the show because of the witty humor, clever writing, interesting characters, pop-culture references and the art of spreading the true message of love and tolerance.  Upon watching this, I thought to myself:

"If this guy can to a documentary about My Little Pony, then why can't I do one about King Kong?"

I was originally going to make a monster-on-loose short movie with a stop-motion monster terrorizing Boston, but thanks to the Boston Marathon bombings, I felt like it was the wrong thing to do, so I decided to make this documentary instead.  It was originally 3 hours long, but my professor, Saul Levine, said:

"There are a lot of scenes that contain all these cartoon iterations of King Kong.  Why don't you trim down the access fat?"

I followed his advice and it worked.

While the documentary was the main course, this cartoon was the appetizer.  It is called Sid Simpleton in the Planet of the Aches (or The Planet of the Aches for short).  Inspired by the way Cartoon Network is going with shows that contain messed-up storylines, eyesore character designs, voices that would make you want to rush for the mute button and shock moments!  The stuff that can make Scooby-Doo look like Sesame Street.

Matt and Mike Chapman created Homestar Runner because they didn't like the way children's media was going.

Craig McCracken (creator of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends for Cartoon Network) made  Wander Over Yonder for Disney because he was not happy with the way cartoons were going.

Butch Hartman, creator of The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, and T.U.F.F. Puppy for Nickelodeon made The Noog Network, which is an online app for kids 6 to 14, because of those shock moments on children's entertainment.

So inspired by old cartoons that I loved, I created Sid Simpleton.  After making  a few shorts with the character, I made Sid Simpleton in the Planet of the Aches.

Now for our feature presentation, Hail to the King- A King named Kong.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Tiara Trouble".

I am back with another one this one is about "Tiara Trouble".

As if you take notice, the writers got their memes wrong.
In this cartoon she said "No Me Gusta!" and look at her face.

This is the "No Me Gusta" face.
Bubbles did the "No" face.

After all, Craig McCracken spoofed a meme in the special, Powerpuff Girls Rule!  Here he spoofed the dramatic hamster.

In fact, Craig spoofed memes in the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode, "Bloo Tube".

Enjoy.
Shout out goes to Saberspark for pointing out the flaws in this show and inspiring me to make the documentary, Hail to the King - A King named Kong.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Strong Armed".

In my "Princess Buttercup" vlog, I said something about Buttercup not using her flying ability over the leader of the Derby Taunts to save her sisters as one of the dumbest moments of the show.  Here is another one: Bubbles breaking her arm by a tail whip from the villain, Pack Rat.  Find out on this vlog.

Enjoy.

Sorry, this one is overdue.  I need to catch up on this.  Sorry.  So here is another vlog.  This one is about the episode, "The Stayover".  It is a parody of the movie The Hangover, except you replace the tiger with a bull.  I hope you enjoy it.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 Vlog - "Escape from Monster Island" and "Princess Buttercup".

Yes, it is true, I like Powerpuff Girls.  In fact, I like Craig McCracken because I find him influential and inspirational.  You see from 1929 to 1934, America was in the grasp of the Great Depression and there were superheroes like Flash Gordon, Superman, Captain Marvel and Buck Rogers who were there to give courage and boost morale to the people in need.  Then, at the time when 9/11 came along, there were cartoons like Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Fairly OddParents, Codename: Kids Next Door, My Life as a Teenage Robot and Yin Yang Yo to continue the tradition, but with the power of laughter.  This is because they took immediate action by bouncing back, fighting back, biting back and triumphing over their aggressors.  In other words, they had back bone.  However in today's troubled times, it looks like that we need a hero.  With the reboot of Powerpuff Girls that came on yesterday, I would like to present my nice little vlog on it.

Enjoy.

Once again, another lost music gets a premiere.

That's right you heard me.  Another music video about a certain ape gets premiered.  Not just any music video, but a lost one.  Like the previous two, this one gets a premiere and is made to coincide with the 1976 remake.  It is Century Orchestra with, King Kong is Back Again from 1976.  This wraps things up and stay tuned to this blog for more surprises and delights.

Enjoy.

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Another lost music video premiere.

If you remember early that I announced there will be more.  This is another one.  This one is by a disco pop group called The Vast Majority and it is called, King Kong is Back in Town. Again, another song to coincide with the 1976 remake.  Enjoy.

Lost Music Video Premiere!

This music video you are about to see was originally going premiere in 2013, but the music video got lost.  Recently I found it (along with two others) and so here it is.  From 1977 (to cash in with 1976 remake by Dino De Laurentiis), it is King Kong is Alive and Well by D.J. Scott.

Enjoy and there will be more to come.

Dinosaur Daze Technical Issue

On Friday, I was going to continue working on Dinosaur Daze, but something happened.  The Athena 16mm Motion Analysis Projector malfunctioned.  Adam Savje, my Stop-Motion 2 and Optical Printing professor was in charge of the projector.  It malfunctioned because there was something wrong with the internal functions, so he sent it to the Film Cage and it will be sent for repairs.  I asked him when was the last time it was tested and working well.  He said "Two months ago."

I told him that if the projector gets fixed, I would skip a work day and make up for the skipped work day.  He agreed.

Yes folks.  Currently, I am working at MassArt's Tech Central department.  I am doing inventory and making an animated safety film for the department.   So here are some pictures of the supposed dynamation shots for this 16mm production.

This projector is used to study motion and timing.  Scientists use it to study motion.  Coaches use it to help athletes improve their skills.  Filmmakers and animators use it not only for rotoscoping, but for combining live-action with stop-motion animation.  While regular projector burn the film when paused, this one doesn't and the film never burns up.  You can move a few frame forward or a few frames back.  It is a great projector (pity that it malfunctioned).

New Music Videos!

On March 2nd 1933, the original King Kong premiered and on March 2nd 1886, Willis O'Brien was born. O'Brien would later be animating such the original Lost World (1925), The Black Scorpion (1957), the original Mighty Joe Young (1949), The Giant Behemoth (1959) and of course the original 1933 classic, King Kong (and it's sequel The Son of Kong).
Here is a picture of him with his Oscar for the original Mighty Joe Young.

Now here is a new music video by Finnish pop-star Frederik.  It is called King Kong.

So every Wednesday in March is a new music video with songs about the famous giant ape.
Enjoy.

New Music Video! Push it to the Limit.

That's right!  You heard that song on South Park, The Simpsons, It's Sunny Philadelphia and Grand Theft Auto 3.  It is Push it to the Limit by Paul Engemann.  This music video features the goofy-buddy duo from the current Disney cartoon series on Disney XD, Pickle and Peanut. Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom!

Enjoy!

Nutty about Peanuts!

Yes, I like Peanuts and I grew up on the cartoons (my first Peanuts Special was It's Your 20th Television Anniversary Charlie Brown (1985). It's a rare one.) and the comics as well as the merchandise.  It got me through good times and tough times.  I saw The Peanuts Movie three months ago, and I loved it.  In fact, I loved it so much that I made a break-in recording called Hey Peanuts.

Also, there is proof that it is taking the nation by storm.

There you have it. I hope you enjoy it, because I haven't updated this blog in a while.  Stay tuned for more posts.
